Container Corporation of India (CONCOR)’s inland container depot (ICD) now operational in Sambre Railway Station in Belagavi.

CONCOR is a government-owned company that operates various ICDs and container terminals across India, providing logistics and supply chain solutions for the movement of goods.

The Belagavi ICD is a strategic location for the movement of goods to and from the Industries of Belagavi, ports of Karwar, Mangaluru, and Goa, serving as a critical hub for trade and commerce in the region. An ICD is a facility that serves as a hub for the movement of containerized cargo by rail, road, or a combination of both, to and from ports and other destinations.

The Container Corporation of India Limited, a Navratna company operating under the Ministry of Railways, initiated its terminal at Desur in 2004. However, it remained non-operational for several years. In 2018, operations were resumed, but in November 2019, the company was instructed to vacate and transfer the land to the Railways, as it was urgently required for the construction of a PGCIL storage facility intended for electrification purposes.
