Achilles, a global leader in supply chain risk and sustainability management, has completed 14 years of operations in India, marking a journey of steady growth, resilience, and a steadfast commitment to promoting transparency, responsibility, and sustainability in global supply chains.
What began as a one-person operation in Mumbai has today grown into a regional powerhouse with over 100 employees spread across India, Hong Kong, and now Sydney. At the helm of this transformation is Smitha Shetty, Regional Director – APAC, who played a pivotal role in expanding Achilles’ footprint and impact across Asia Pacific.
“Starting as the first employee for Achilles in India, I have had the privilege of witnessing our growth from a single presence in Mumbai to a connected regional footprint spanning India, Hong Kong and now Sydney,” said Shetty. “This journey has been built by our people, whose dedication and deep understanding of local and global challenges have helped organisations navigate evolving ESG regulations and manage increasingly complex supply chain risks.”
Achilles has positioned itself as a trusted partner for businesses striving to meet escalating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) expectations. The company offers comprehensive solutions including ESG data collection, supplier risk assessment, human rights due diligence, and carbon accounting—helping clients adapt to tightening regulatory frameworks and increasing stakeholder scrutiny.
Underpinning its operations is the belief that “we are in the business of doing good business.” This ethos has guided Achilles in supporting organisations to align with key compliance frameworks such as India’s BRSR Core, the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), and modern slavery legislation.
India continues to play a critical role in Achilles’ Asia-Pacific operations. With established offices in Mumbai and Hong Kong, the company recently opened its newest office in Sydney—signaling its commitment to bringing global expertise paired with deep local insight to the region.
Looking ahead, Achilles aims to scale its impact further by deepening collaboration with both public and private sector players, including MSMEs. The company seeks to democratize access to sustainability tools and frameworks that enhance supplier resilience, elevate ESG reporting standards, and build trust across supply networks.
From a modest beginning to becoming a regional leader in sustainable procurement and supply chain risk, Achilles’ India story stands as a testament to relevance, responsibility, and readiness in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
