Abu Dhabi-based AD Ports Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Azerbaijan Transport and Communications Holding (AZCON Holding) to explore wide-ranging cooperation across ports, shipping, logistics, and digital trade solutions in Azerbaijan.

The agreement marks a strategic step toward strengthening maritime and logistics connectivity in the Caspian region, with both parties aiming to leverage their expertise to enhance trade flows and infrastructure development. The collaboration is expected to focus on modernising port operations, improving shipping services, and advancing integrated logistics networks.

Under the MoU, the two sides will assess opportunities to jointly develop and manage port terminals, enhance cargo handling capabilities, and introduce advanced digital platforms to streamline trade and supply chain processes. The partnership also envisions cooperation in smart port technologies and data-driven logistics solutions to improve operational efficiency and transparency.

For AD Ports Group, the agreement aligns with its broader international expansion strategy, particularly in emerging markets along key trade corridors linking Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. Azerbaijan’s strategic location along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route makes it a critical gateway for east-west trade, offering significant growth potential.

AZCON Holding, which oversees key transport and communications assets in Azerbaijan, is expected to benefit from AD Ports Group’s global expertise in port development, logistics integration, and digital transformation. The collaboration aims to support Azerbaijan’s ambitions to position itself as a major regional logistics hub.

While the MoU is non-binding, it lays the groundwork for potential future investments and joint ventures that could significantly enhance the region’s maritime and logistics ecosystem.

Further details on specific projects and timelines are expected to emerge as both parties progress discussions and feasibility assessments.
