Soon after assuming charge as Chairman of the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC), Dr A. Sakthivel paid his first courtesy call on Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at her office in New Delhi.

During the meeting, Dr Sakthivel expressed gratitude to the Finance Minister for the government’s continued support to exporters, particularly the announcement of the Interest Subvention Scheme, credit guarantee support for export-linked working capital loans to MSMEs under the CGTMSE, and the extension of trade finance support to exports of select products.

Highlighting the challenges faced by apparel exporters, especially MSMEs, the AEPC Chairman requested the Finance Minister to consider enhancing the higher cap limit under the Interest Subvention Scheme to improve liquidity and strengthen the global competitiveness of Indian exporters.

The interaction underscored the government’s commitment to supporting the export sector and reinforcing India’s position in global apparel markets, with a focus on growth, competitiveness and employment generation.
