Global air cargo spot rates continued their gradual decline as additional capacity entered the market and demand remained relatively subdued across several key trade lanes. The easing in rates reflects a more balanced market following the peak shipping season, with airlines competing for available cargo volumes.

Industry analysts noted that increased freighter deployments and higher belly cargo capacity from expanding international passenger flights have contributed to the downward pressure on pricing. While e-commerce shipments and high-value cargo continue to support demand, overall freight volumes have not been strong enough to sustain earlier rate levels.

The decline has been most noticeable on major Asia-Europe and Trans-Pacific routes, where improved capacity and cautious inventory management by shippers have moderated pricing. However, rates on certain lanes remain above pre-pandemic averages due to ongoing geopolitical uncertainties and supply chain disruptions affecting parts of the global logistics network.

Despite the softer pricing environment, air cargo remains a critical mode of transport for time-sensitive, pharmaceutical, electronics, and perishables shipments. Market participants expect freight rates to remain under pressure in the near term, although seasonal demand later in the year and any unexpected supply chain disruptions could influence pricing trends.
