Air India Express has waived cargo charges for transporting flood relief materials to Assam, supporting emergency response efforts in the flood-affected areas. The initiative aims to help relief organisations and authorities move essential supplies quickly and efficiently during the ongoing crisis.

Under the special assistance programme, cargo transportation fees for eligible relief consignments will be waived, enabling faster movement of critical items such as food supplies, medicines, clothing and other essential materials. The move is expected to ease logistics challenges faced by agencies involved in relief operations.

Air India Express said the initiative reflects its commitment to supporting communities during emergencies and using its air cargo capabilities for humanitarian assistance. The airline’s network will help facilitate faster connectivity for relief shipments, especially when road and surface transport routes are disrupted due to flooding.

Assam frequently faces seasonal flooding, which affects transportation infrastructure and access to essential goods in several regions. The cargo fee waiver is expected to provide additional support to relief agencies working to deliver timely assistance to affected communities.

The initiative highlights the role of aviation and logistics operators in disaster response by enabling quicker delivery of emergency supplies and strengthening coordination between transport providers and relief organisations.
