Air Kerala, the State’s first airline, has officially announce Cochin International Airport (COK) as its hub of its operations.
The inaugural flight is scheduled to take off from CIAL by the end of May or early June with its two dry-leased aircrafts. The airline is committed to offer affordable and accessible air travel for residents and visitors, strengthening Kerala’s position as a global tourism and aviation hub, said Harish Kutty, CEO, Air Kerala.
The airline will begin the connectivity to tier II and III cities in South and Central India before venturing into the international sector by 2027 when it expects to reach the target of 20 aircrafts to enter the international sector, he said.
Air Kerala’s establishment at CIAL signifies the dawn of a new era in Kerala’s aviation journey. The airline’s vision to enhance connectivity, boost tourism, and create employment aligns with the aspirations of millions of Keralites and global travelers, he said at a press meet.
“The journey of Air Kerala began as an ambitious idea to transform air travel in Kerala. Today, it is a reality. Our promise is to operate as a true ultra-low-cost airline, making air travel affordable for everyone. We aim to convert bus and train passengers into air travelers with our attractive fares and unmatched service”, he said adding that the airline’s operations will generate 750 direct and indirect job opportunities in its first year, fostering local talent and strengthening the state’s aviation ecosystem.
The initiative aims to significantly enhance inbound tourism by providing better connectivity and convenience. With affordable fares and accessible routes, the airline seeks to attract global tourists eager to explore Kerala’s vibrant culture, scenic landscapes, and warm hospitality, he said.
