Allcargo Terminals Limited, a subsidiary of the Allcargo Group and a leading operator of India’s largest Container Freight Station–Inland Container Depot (CFS–ICD) network, has announced a significant expansion of its CFS facility near Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNP), reinforcing its long-term growth strategy and commitment to strengthening India’s EXIM trade infrastructure.

With this expansion, the annual handling capacity of the JNP CFS has been almost doubled from 1.90 lakh TEUs to 3.60 lakh TEUs, positioning the facility to efficiently cater to rising cargo volumes at India’s premier container gateway. The capacity augmentation forms a key pillar of Allcargo Terminals’ three-year strategic roadmap, which focuses on scaling operations, enhancing infrastructure, and accelerating digitisation across its nationwide network.

The expanded yard is supported by RTG-enabled, tag-less operations, enabling faster, more efficient cargo handling and improved yard productivity. This enhancement aligns with JNPA’s ambitious vision of becoming the first Indian port to handle 10 million TEUs by 2027, with Allcargo Terminals playing a crucial role in supporting the port’s growing throughput.

As part of the upgrade, the facility has also witnessed a 25 per cent increase in warehousing capacity, along with the creation of dedicated zones for special cargo and Over-Dimensional Cargo (ODC). The CFS’s strategic proximity to JNP allows for quicker evacuation and reduced turnaround times, while advanced safety and security systems further elevate operational standards.

Digitalisation remains central to the company’s operational model. Tools such as the MyCFS mobile application and smart yard management systems enable seamless, paperless workflows, offering customers improved visibility, planning, and execution across the logistics value chain.

Commenting on the expansion, Capt. Sunny Williams, Regional Head – West, Allcargo Terminals Limited, said, “JNP is one of the most critical gateways for India’s EXIM trade, and our capacity expansion here is both strategic and timely. By enhancing our yard space and warehousing infrastructure, we are strengthening our ability to handle increased cargo flows with precision and efficiency. With a digital-first operational approach and a robust facility network, Allcargo Terminals is well-positioned to support the evolving needs of customers and contribute meaningfully to the region’s logistics ecosystem.”

Echoing this sentiment, Venugopal Shetty, Facility Head – CFS JNPT, added, “The capacity expansion addresses growing customer requirements and feedback. With increased yard and warehouse capacity, backed by Allcargo Terminals’ MyCFS platform and yard management solutions, we are better positioned to handle higher volumes with improved planning, visibility, and execution.”

In addition to the expanded facility, Allcargo Terminals also operates a second CFS near JNP through its wholly owned subsidiary, Speedy Multimodes. Overall, the company runs seven CFS and ICD facilities across major ports in India, reinforcing its leadership position in India’s container logistics and trade facilitation ecosystem.
