In a major expansion of its supply chain network, Amazon has signed a built-to-suit (BTS) lease agreement for a 600,000 sq ft warehousing facility at Oswal Logistics Park in Kolkata. The facility will feature a 400,000 sq ft plinth area and an additional 200,000 sq ft mezzanine, with the handover expected between 2027 and 2028.
Under the agreement, Amazon will reportedly pay ₹32 per sq ft per month, placing the deal among the higher-end rental arrangements in Kolkata’s warehousing sector. The upcoming facility is expected to be equipped with state-of-the-art automation and advanced fulfilment systems, aligning with Amazon’s global operational standards.
This investment reflects Amazon’s continued commitment to strengthening its last-mile delivery capabilities and meeting growing e-commerce demand in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities.
The Kolkata deal follows Amazon’s recent warehousing expansion in the Delhi-NCR region earlier this year, which included 550,000 sq ft at Welspun Logistics Park, Luhari, and 300,000 sq ft at Indospace Logistics Park along the Sohna-Palwal Road — taking its total new warehousing space in India in 2025 to over 1.4 million sq ft.
Industry analysts note that such large-scale leasing activity signals sustained growth in India’s organised warehousing market, driven by the rapid rise of online retail and the need for efficient distribution networks.
