APM Terminals, in partnership with Hateco Group, has won the bid to develop a new container terminal in Da Nang, marking a significant expansion of port infrastructure in central Vietnam.

The project is expected to enhance cargo handling capacity in Da Nang, a key gateway for trade in the region, and support the country’s growing import-export volumes. The terminal will cater to rising container traffic driven by manufacturing growth and increasing integration into global supply chains.

Industry sources indicate that the new facility will be designed to accommodate larger vessels and incorporate modern handling equipment, digital systems, and efficient yard operations. This is expected to improve turnaround times and boost overall port productivity.

The partnership combines APM Terminals’ global expertise in port operations with Hateco’s local market knowledge and infrastructure experience. The collaboration is aimed at delivering a state-of-the-art terminal aligned with international standards.

Vietnam has been actively investing in port and logistics infrastructure to strengthen its position as a manufacturing and export hub in Southeast Asia. The development in Da Nang is part of broader efforts to improve connectivity and reduce congestion at major ports.

Analysts note that the project could play a strategic role in attracting more shipping services to central Vietnam, reducing reliance on southern and northern port clusters, and supporting regional economic development.

With construction expected to progress in phases, the new terminal is set to become a key asset in Vietnam’s maritime network, reinforcing its competitiveness in global trade.
