Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM) has expanded its fleet portfolio by taking on the technical management of a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) for the first time. The 2019-built Turquoise P, owned by Pardus Energy Ltd., is stationed at the Etki Liman LNG terminal in the Turkish Aegean Sea near Izmir.

The vessel, which has a length of 294 metres and a cargo capacity of 170,000 cubic metres, is managed by Pronav, BSM’s Hamburg-based Ship Management Centre specialising in large-scale LNG carriers.

“This is a milestone for Pronav and the entire Schulte Group,” said Martin Roolvink, Managing Director of Pronav. “We are proud that our many years of expertise in LNG ship management and our flawless safety record have enabled us to take on the technical management of Turquoise P. The LNG segment demands the highest industry standards, and safety and quality remain our top priorities.”

FSRUs serve as floating terminals that receive, store, and convert liquefied natural gas back into gaseous form for delivery to shore. The Etki Liman LNG terminal plays a critical role in Türkiye’s energy supply chain, ensuring secure delivery of natural gas to the Izmir region, particularly during peak demand or seasonal fluctuations.

Globally, there are just over 50 FSRUs in operation, with only a small number under third-party technical management. Pronav, with more than 25 years’ experience in LNG ship management, is recognised worldwide for its operational safety, reliability, and efficiency. Its portfolio spans conventional steam vessels, Moss-type and membrane tankers, Q-Flex vessels with re-liquefaction plants, and the latest generation of dual-fuel LNG carriers.
