The Calcutta Freight Brokers Association (CBFA) has organised its 85th Annual General Meeting on 28th July 2023 in Kolkata. Atit Mahajan, Managing Director of CMA CGM Agencies (India) Pvt. Ltd., was the chief guest on this occasion. The event has been attended by all the members of CBFA and dignitaries from other freight associations and shipping agencies.

Speaking at the event, Bharat Jain Chairman, CBFA said, “Freight Brokers in Kolkata have played a vital role in keeping freight rates at more practical levels during market fluctuations. Instead of exploiting market sentiments for personal gain, we focus on stabilizing the rates and creating mutually beneficial proposals for both carriers and shippers. By working together, we can strive for greater stability in the industry.”

“India and Japan are collaborating to develop the Matarbari port in Bangladesh off the coast of the Bay of Bengal. The deep seaport is a strategically important endeavor for India, Japan, and Bangladesh for a variety of reasons. In the near future, it has the potential to evolve into a regional hub, becoming a crucial gateway for trade and commerce being closer to Nepal & Bhutan and also North-eastern states of India,’ he added.
