Cargo airline group Challenge Group has strengthened its fleet expansion strategy with the acquisition of two Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, which will be converted into dedicated freighters.

The move is part of the company’s broader plan to scale up long-haul cargo capacity in response to sustained global demand for air freight. Once converted, the aircraft are expected to significantly enhance payload capabilities and operational efficiency across key intercontinental routes.

Industry experts note that the Boeing 777-300ER platform is increasingly being repurposed for cargo operations due to its range, fuel efficiency, and high-volume capacity, making it a preferred choice for freighter conversions.

Challenge Group indicated that the additional aircraft will support its network growth and provide greater flexibility in meeting customer requirements, particularly for time-sensitive and high-value shipments.

The expansion comes amid a tightening supply of dedicated freighters and rising reliance on converted passenger aircraft to bridge capacity gaps in the air cargo sector.

With this latest acquisition, Challenge Group continues to position itself for long-term growth, reinforcing its presence in the competitive global air freight market.
