CMA CGM has announced that its Benjamin Franklin ship experienced extreme weather conditions off the beaches of South Africa, resulting in the loss of 44 containers at sea.
This event reportedly occurred on 9 July, and a further 30 containers were reported damaged aboard the vessel.
The shipping line reported that there was no harm to the crew, no pollution, and no significant damage to the vessel, which remains seaworthy.
After a thorough assessment, it was determined that all containers lost at sea carried safe and non-dangerous contents.
CMA CGM noted that it immediately alerted the appropriate authorities and will travel to Cape Town to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the situation and take all required and essential precautions to guarantee the safe continuation of the maritime journey.
CMA CGM assured its clients affected by the incident that they would contact them to give all relevant information and provide the greatest possible help in the future stages.
