In a major step towards strengthening India’s pharmaceutical logistics network, Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) flagged off the inaugural “Aushadhi Express,” a dedicated reefer rake carrying temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical cargo from ICD Sanathnagar to Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) on May 2, 2026.

The train was ceremonially flagged off at 12:30 hrs by Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, General Manager of South Central Railway, along with Sanjay Swarup, Chairman and Managing Director of CONCOR.

The event witnessed the presence of senior railway and logistics officials, including K. Padmaja, Ity Pandey, R. Gopalakrishnan, and R. Sudharshan, along with CONCOR leadership and representatives from Maersk.

The launch of the Aushadhi Express marks a significant milestone in enhancing rail–port integration for pharma logistics. The dedicated cold-chain service is designed to ensure faster, safer, and more efficient transportation of sensitive pharmaceutical products to export gateways.

Hyderabad, widely known as India’s “Pharma Capital,” is home to major pharmaceutical clusters such as Genome Valley, Jeedimetla, Patancheru, Nacharam, and Pashamylaram. The new service connects these production hubs seamlessly with JNPT, the country’s premier maritime gateway.

By integrating rail and port logistics, the Aushadhi Express is expected to significantly improve the reliability and efficiency of pharma exports, reinforcing India’s position as a global pharmaceutical powerhouse while ensuring the integrity of temperature-sensitive cargo during transit.
