India’s Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) has initiated an anti-dumping probe into the import of solar glass, signalling a proactive approach to protect the interests of the domestic solar industry. The investigation comes amid growing concerns about the possibility of unfair trade practices and market distortions affecting the solar glass sector.

The DGTR, responding to complaints from domestic solar industry stakeholders, will assess whether the import of solar glass is causing material injury to the indigenous manufacturers. Solar glass is a crucial component in solar panel manufacturing, and any adverse impact on its domestic production can have ramifications for the overall solar energy ecosystem.

The anti-dumping investigation aims to examine the extent of the alleged dumping and its potential negative effects on the domestic market. If found to be true, anti-dumping duties may be imposed to address the imbalance and create a level playing field for Indian solar glass manufacturers.

This move aligns with India’s commitment to fostering a robust and self-sufficient renewable energy sector. By investigating and addressing concerns surrounding solar glass imports, the DGTR aims to safeguard the interests of domestic solar industry players and promote a fair and competitive environment in the growing renewable energy market.
