DryDel Shipping has marked a significant milestone in its fleet expansion and modernization program with the naming and delivery of its latest vessel, MV Super Dry, during the scenic cherry blossom (Sakura) season in Japan.
The 42,500 DWT Handymax bulk carrier has been constructed by Oshima Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and features the latest eco-efficient design tailored for enhanced operational flexibility and optimized performance in the dry bulk segment.
This delivery represents the first of four Japanese newbuild vessels scheduled to join DryDel’s fleet in the first half of 2026. The company noted that the addition reinforces its strategic positioning in the global dry bulk market while advancing its ongoing fleet renewal initiative.
DryDel Shipping expects its fleet’s average age to fall below 3.5 years as part of this modernization drive. Looking ahead, the company’s newbuilding program includes a total of 10 dry bulk vessels—ranging from Handymax to Capesize—set for delivery over the next two years.
The naming ceremony was attended by key stakeholders, including CEO Costas Delaportas, representatives from the shipyard, financial partners, Japanese collaborators, and members of the DryDel Shipping team.
The company also reaffirmed its long-standing relationship with Japanese shipbuilders, highlighting over 15 years of collaboration built on trust, craftsmanship, and reliability—an alliance that continues to shape its fleet development strategy.
DryDel Shipping extended its appreciation to all parties involved in the successful execution of the project and wished MV Super Dry safe voyages and operational success in the years ahead.
