Embraer and Adani Defence & Aerospace have announced a strategic partnership to establish a regional transport aircraft ecosystem in India, marking a significant step in the country’s aviation and defence manufacturing ambitions. The collaboration aims to develop local manufacturing, assembly, and support capabilities for regional aircraft, strengthening India’s position in the growing civil and military aviation markets.
Under the partnership, the two companies will explore opportunities across the aircraft lifecycle, including design, production, maintenance, and pilot training. Embraer will bring its expertise in regional aircraft technology, while Adani Defence & Aerospace will leverage its domestic manufacturing capabilities and infrastructure to create a robust ecosystem within India.
Officials from both companies highlighted that the initiative is aligned with the Indian government’s push for self-reliance in aerospace and defence under the “Make in India” framework. By fostering domestic production and technology transfer, the partnership is expected to generate skilled jobs, boost local supply chains, and reduce dependence on imported aircraft components.
Industry analysts note that the move could also help expand India’s regional connectivity by supporting the deployment of modern, fuel-efficient regional aircraft for both passenger and cargo services. The collaboration positions India to become a key hub for regional aircraft manufacturing in the Asia-Pacific region, while promoting innovation, sustainability, and competitiveness in the domestic aerospace sector.
