Kolkata’s Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port on Tuesday announced that its Haldia Dock Complex (HDC) achieved a robust 48.97% year-on-year growth in container handling for November, marking one of its strongest monthly performances to date.

HDC handled 21,691 TEUs during the month, significantly higher than the 15,231 TEUs recorded in November last year. The port authority attributed this surge to enhanced operational planning, improved vessel turnaround, and stronger coordination among cargo-handling teams.

The latest performance also surpassed HDC’s recent highs of 20,133 TEUs in January 2025 and 20,627 TEUs in September, reinforcing the dock system’s positive growth momentum in container movement.

Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port described the achievement as a “significant milestone,” though it did not release corresponding performance figures for its Kolkata Dock System (KDS). The port’s overall operations are divided between HDC and KDS.
