India and Panama have agreed to strengthen maritime trade cooperation with a focus on improving shipping connectivity, enhancing supply chain resilience and expanding bilateral trade. The initiative reflects both countries’ commitment to fostering closer collaboration in the maritime sector and supporting efficient global logistics.

The partnership will explore opportunities to improve port connectivity, facilitate smoother cargo movement and promote greater cooperation in maritime transport services. Both sides also aim to encourage the exchange of best practices in port management, digitalisation, maritime safety and sustainable shipping.

As a key gateway to the Americas through the Panama Canal, Panama plays a strategic role in global shipping, while India continues to expand its maritime infrastructure under initiatives aimed at boosting trade and logistics efficiency. Enhanced cooperation is expected to benefit exporters, shipping lines and logistics providers by improving access to international markets.

The two countries also discussed measures to strengthen supply chain resilience by promoting seamless trade flows, reducing logistical bottlenecks and encouraging greater investment in maritime infrastructure and related services. The collaboration is expected to support growing trade volumes and create new opportunities for businesses engaged in global commerce.

The agreement reinforces India and Panama’s shared objective of deepening economic ties and building a more efficient, secure and sustainable maritime transport network to support international trade and long-term supply chain stability.
