India has officially commenced its fresh green chilli export season with the first consignments of the popular G4 Gauri variety being shipped to Gulf markets, marking the start of a key agricultural export cycle for growers and traders.

Exporters said strong demand from countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, particularly the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Qatar, has driven early-season shipments. The G4 Gauri chilli variety is widely preferred in international markets for its colour, pungency, shelf life, and suitability for long-distance transportation.

Traders noted that exporters are expecting healthy demand this season as Gulf buyers increase procurement ahead of peak consumption periods. Improved harvesting conditions and better crop quality in major producing states have also supported export momentum.

Industry sources said exporters are focusing on maintaining cold-chain efficiency and faster logistics connectivity to ensure freshness during transit. Air cargo and reefer-based transportation continue to play a crucial role in preserving product quality for overseas deliveries.

Agricultural exporters expect the fresh green chilli trade to contribute positively to India’s horticulture exports this season, with shipments likely to increase further as arrivals pick up across key farming belts.
