Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Friday said India Post is rapidly transforming into a major logistics powerhouse and is aiming to emerge as a global player by 2030.

The minister made the remarks while releasing a commemorative stamp to mark 75 years of the Postal Training Centre Saharanpur (PTC) at an event in New Delhi.

Calling the occasion historic, Scindia lauded the Saharanpur-based institution for shaping generations of postal employees with values of service, efficiency, and accuracy. He said the centre has trained nearly 2.5 lakh personnel over the past 75 years, with around 30,000 trainees passing through its programmes annually. “PTC is not just a building but a place where history is created and ordinary employees are transformed into dedicated Karma Yogis committed to Nation First, Service First,” he said.

Highlighting broader reforms, the minister emphasised the government’s push to modernise postal and telecom systems through digital platforms and logistics integration.

At the event, the Government of Goa and Cochin Port Authority signed an agreement to onboard the System for Accounting and Management of Pension (SAMPANN). The platform, developed by the Department of Telecommunications, enables end-to-end digital processing of pensions, including sanction, disbursal directly to bank accounts, grievance redressal, and transaction tracking.

The move is expected to improve transparency, efficiency, and service delivery for telecom pensioners, aligning with the government’s broader digital governance push.
