A Japanese delegation met with the Chairman of Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Shri Sushil Kumar Singh, to explore potential collaboration in shipbuilding and ship repair at Kandla, marking a step forward in strengthening maritime cooperation between India and Japan.

During the meeting, Chairman Singh provided a detailed overview of upcoming infrastructure and development projects at Kandla, highlighting their strategic alignment with India’s National Shipbuilding Mission and Maritime India Vision. He emphasized the port’s growing importance as a hub for maritime industrial development on the west coast.

The discussions focused on unlocking new opportunities in shipyard development, repair facilities, and associated maritime services, with both sides expressing interest in long-term collaboration.

The visiting delegation also conducted site inspections at Kandla and Veera, gaining firsthand insights into the proposed shipyard locations and assessing their development potential. The visit underscored Kandla’s readiness to emerge as a key center for shipbuilding and repair activities in the region.

The engagement reflects increasing international interest in India’s maritime sector and DPA’s proactive efforts to attract global partnerships for port-led industrial growth.
