JSW Cement has announced the commissioning of a new state-of-the-art cement grinding unit at Sambalpur, Odisha, through its subsidiary Shiva Cement. The facility, with an installed capacity of 1 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), will cater exclusively to Shiva Cement, taking JSW Cement’s total installed capacity across its subsidiaries to 21.6 MTPA.

The new unit strengthens JSW Cement’s presence in eastern India, a region witnessing rapid growth driven by infrastructure and industrial development. “The eastern region of the country is poised for exponential growth in the coming years. Odisha is playing a key role in the industrial and economic growth in the region. This new facility is a strategic initiative to consolidate our position in this market,” said Nilesh Narwekar, CEO, JSW Cement.

Strategically located near the borders of Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand, the plant ensures proximity to key raw materials while enhancing logistical efficiency and supporting JSW Cement’s eco-friendly operations.

The company continues to advance its pan-India expansion, aiming for a total grinding capacity of 41.85 MTPA and clinker capacity of 13.04 MTPA, including its upcoming Nagaur unit in Rajasthan. JSW Cement also remains a sustainability leader, reporting the lowest carbon emission intensity in the industry—277 kg CO₂ per tonne of cementitious material in Q1 FY26.
