Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Murat Nurtleu has held high-level talks with senior executives of China’s leading corporations, China Minmetals Corporation and CITIC Construction Co. Ltd., to push forward joint investment initiatives across logistics, industry, and agricultural processing.

According to the Kazakh Foreign Ministry, the meetings took place during Nurtleu’s working visit to the Zhetysu Region and focused on deepening cross-border cooperation with China.

In talks with China Minmetals Corporation, discussions centered on the construction of a major logistics hub in the Khorgos area, set to serve as a new strategic link on the transcontinental trade route connecting Asia and Europe. The project is expected to boost regional trade flows and enhance Kazakhstan’s role as a key transit hub.

At the meeting with CITIC Construction Co. Ltd., both sides explored opportunities to expand the company’s investment footprint in Kazakhstan, with a major focus on creating an industrial park for deep processing of agricultural products in the border area. This initiative aims to drive value-added production, strengthen export capacity, and open new markets for Kazakh goods.

Nurtleu stressed that developing border regions in partnership with China is a strategic priority for Kazakhstan’s foreign economic policy. He underlined that these projects will not only bolster trade and investment ties but also create jobs, attract new business, and support the sustainable socio-economic growth of the Zhetysu Region.
