The Port of Klaipėda reported continued growth in 2025, setting multiple operational records across key cargo segments.

Container cargo, RoRo traffic, liquefied natural gas (LNG), oil products, minerals, and construction materials all reached historic highs.

Algis Latakas, Director General of the Klaipėda State Seaport Authority, stated: “2025 was truly a successful year for the Port of Klaipėda – we handled 39 million tonnes of cargo. But when we talk about cargo volumes, we also talk about everything that supports them: investments, port security, technological progress, and environmental solutions.

“All of these areas received significant attention. Seven new records show that the port is actively looking for new opportunities to grow. Despite the geopolitical situation and sanctions, cargo volumes are increasing and the port is operating strongly.”

Container handling reached almost 13 million tonnes, a 29 per cent increase on 2024. The milestone of 1 million TEU was achieved in early October, earlier than in previous years, and by year-end 1.30 million TEU had been handled, exceeding the 2024 record by 22 per cent. Container tonnage also surpassed the previous peak of 10.5 million tonnes set in 2022.

Roro cargo grew 6 per cent to 6.5 million tonnes, with 353,759 vehicles processed, marking a new record. Growth was supported by increased service frequency and new routes from TT-Line and DFDS.

LNG throughput rose 19 per cent to 2.4 million tonnes, aided by the resumption of FSRU Independence operations.

Construction materials and minerals reached 2.1 million tonnes, supporting national infrastructure projects.

Some cargo segments declined: timber and forestry products fell to 606,000 tonnes, scrap metal dropped to 1.2 million tonnes, and grain handling decreased by 7 per cent to 3.9 million tonnes.

Despite higher cargo volumes, vessel calls fell 3 per cent to 5,313, reflecting the port’s ability to handle larger, more efficient vessels and maintain operational efficiency while  reducing environmental impact.

In December 2025, Telia launched and fully installed Lithuania’s first private 5G Standalone (SA) network at the Port of Klaipėda.
