Recently launched Korean cargo carrier AirZeta has selected Vienna Airport as its European hub and signed a long-term agreement with the Austrian hub.

The airport and airline said they have signed a ”comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding” for cargo development and a long-term handling agreement.

The airline will operate six flights per week between Zurich and Incheon Airport, with target markets including automotive parts, battery materials, high-value industrial components, electronics, pharmaceuticals, and e-commerce consignments.

The flights will be operated with one of AirZeta’s Boeing 747 freighter aircraft.

Julian Jäger, joint chief executive and chief operating officer of Vienna Airport, said: “With AirZeta, we are not only welcoming a new airline to Vienna but gaining a strategic partner in the cargo sector — one that has made a clear commitment to our location.

“AirZeta’s decision to choose Vienna as its European hub sends a strong signal about the quality and potential of our airport. This strengthens the economic, logistical, and strategic connection between Europe and Korea.”

AirZeta chief executive Kwan Sik Kim added: “Vienna is the ideal launchpad for AIRZETA’s European operations. Excellent infrastructure, outstanding handling quality, and the airport’s strategic geographic position made our decision clear.”

The airline was formed earlier this year when Air Incheon completed its takeover of Asiana Airlines’ cargo business and consequently spun off and rebranded the new combined cargo business.

According to fleet tracking site Planespotters, AirZeta’s current in-service fleet includes 10 Boeing 747Fs, one 767F and four 737Fs.

Asiana Cargo had previously established operations at the Austrian airport, while the location is new to Air Incheon.

“The launch of AirZeta represents not only the creation of a new airline, but also a significant strategic upgrade for Vienna Airport: increased cargo volume, enhanced intercontinental connectivity, and a new level of operational collaboration,” the airport said in a press release.
