Maruti Suzuki India maintained its dominant position in India’s passenger vehicle export market during the first quarter of FY27, accounting for more than 55% of the country’s passenger vehicle exports between April and June 2026.

The automaker exported 123,330 passenger vehicles during the quarter, representing a 28.23% increase from 96,181 units in the same period last year. India’s overall passenger vehicle exports rose 8.8% year-on-year to 222,392 units during Q1 FY27.

Maruti Suzuki also dominated the list of India’s best-selling exported passenger vehicle models. The FRONX, Jimny 5-Door and eVITARA occupied the top three positions, while six Maruti Suzuki models featured among the country’s top eight exported passenger vehicles.

The FRONX has emerged as a major contributor to Maruti Suzuki’s export growth. The SUV crossed the 200,000-unit export milestone in August, less than 38 months after exports began in June 2023. The model is now shipped to nearly 90 countries and has been India’s top exported passenger vehicle since FY25.

Maruti Suzuki currently exports 17 models to nearly 120 markets globally, reinforcing its role as India’s leading passenger vehicle exporter. The company has retained the number-one position in passenger vehicle exports from India for five consecutive years.

The strong export performance comes despite continuing geopolitical and logistics challenges affecting international trade. Major overseas markets for Maruti Suzuki include destinations across Africa, Latin America, Japan and Europe, providing the company with a diversified export base.

The growth in vehicle exports also highlights India’s expanding role as an automotive manufacturing and export hub. For logistics providers and ports handling automotive cargo, higher outbound volumes could support continued growth in roll-on/roll-off, containerised vehicle and finished-vehicle logistics from Indian gateways.

With exports growing substantially faster than the overall Indian passenger vehicle export market in Q1 FY27, Maruti Suzuki is strengthening its position as the country’s leading automotive exporter and a key driver of India’s overseas vehicle shipments.
