    Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) has laid the keel for the fourth Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV) being constructed for the Indian Coast Guard, marking a key milestone in the vessel’s construction timeline.

    The keel-laying ceremony signifies the formal start of hull construction and reflects steady progress in the shipbuilding program. The FPVs are being built as part of an ongoing effort to enhance coastal surveillance, maritime security, and rapid response capabilities.

    Designed for high-speed operations, the vessels will be equipped to undertake a range of missions including patrolling, search and rescue, anti-smuggling operations, and protection of offshore assets. Their deployment is expected to strengthen the Coast Guard’s operational presence across India’s extensive coastline.

    MDL, one of India’s leading defense shipyards, continues to play a vital role in indigenous shipbuilding, supporting the government’s push for self-reliance in the maritime defense sector. The project also contributes to capacity building and technological advancement within the domestic shipbuilding industry.

    Once completed and commissioned, the Fast Patrol Vessels will further bolster the Indian Coast Guard’s fleet and enhance its ability to safeguard the country’s maritime interests.
