The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has approved a ₹414-crore flyover project on National Highway-66 aimed at improving connectivity to the New Mangalore Port Authority. The proposed infrastructure upgrade is expected to ease cargo movement, reduce traffic congestion, and strengthen road access for port-bound container and bulk cargo traffic.

The flyover project will play a key role in enhancing evacuation efficiency from the port, which handles a wide range of commodities including petroleum products, fertilizers, coal, containers, and edible oils. Improved highway connectivity is also expected to support faster turnaround times for trucks and improve logistics reliability for exporters and importers operating through the port.

Officials said the project forms part of broader efforts to modernise transport infrastructure linked to major ports and improve multimodal logistics connectivity under India’s infrastructure development initiatives. Once completed, the flyover is expected to streamline freight movement along the busy NH-66 corridor and support rising cargo volumes at New Mangalore Port.
