Singapore-headquartered container carrier Ocean Network Express (ONE) has enhanced its BMX service by introducing a direct port call in North Sumatra, strengthening connectivity across Southeast Asia.
The revised rotation will include a stop at Belawan Port, providing exporters and importers in the region with improved access to ONE’s broader intra-Asia network. The addition is aimed at supporting growing trade volumes from Indonesia’s Sumatra island, particularly in commodities and manufactured goods.
According to the company, the updated BMX loop will offer more competitive transit times and expanded market reach, enabling customers to streamline supply chains and optimise cargo flows. The move also enhances feeder linkages and transshipment options within ONE’s regional portfolio.
North Sumatra is a key production and export base for palm oil, rubber, coffee and other agricultural commodities. Improved liner connectivity is expected to boost trade efficiency and attract greater containerised cargo volumes through the port.
ONE said the service enhancement reflects its ongoing strategy to fine-tune network offerings in response to shifting trade patterns and customer demand across Asia. The updated BMX schedule will take effect in the coming weeks, subject to operational adjustments.
