Ocean Network Express (ONE) has expanded its presence in South Korea through a strategic investment in a container terminal in Busan, in partnership with Dongwon Group.

The deal marks a significant step in ONE’s efforts to strengthen its foothold in one of Asia’s busiest transshipment hubs. Busan serves as a key gateway for regional and global trade, offering extensive connectivity across major shipping routes.

Through the partnership, ONE aims to secure terminal capacity, enhance operational efficiency, and improve service reliability for its customers. The investment is also expected to support growing cargo volumes and enable better integration with the carrier’s global network.

Industry observers note that shipping lines are increasingly investing in terminal infrastructure to gain greater control over supply chains and reduce dependence on third-party operators. Strategic terminal stakes also help carriers manage congestion risks and improve turnaround times.

For Dongwon Group, the collaboration reinforces its position in the port and logistics sector while strengthening ties with a major global carrier.

The move reflects a broader trend of vertical integration in the container shipping industry, as companies seek to build resilient and efficient logistics ecosystems amid evolving trade dynamics.
