US President Donald Trump has extended a key US shipping waiver by 90 days to help maintain fuel and fertiliser supplies, aiming to ease pressure on domestic markets and ensure uninterrupted access to essential commodities. The move comes amid ongoing logistics disruptions and heightened volatility in global trade routes.

The waiver is expected to provide temporary flexibility for maritime transport requirements, allowing shipments to move more efficiently and reducing the risk of supply shortages. Fuel and fertiliser markets have faced mounting strain from geopolitical tensions, higher freight costs, and tighter vessel availability.

Industry participants said the extension could help stabilize distribution channels, particularly for sectors dependent on timely deliveries such as agriculture, energy, and manufacturing. By supporting smoother cargo movement, the measure may also moderate price pressures linked to transport bottlenecks.

Analysts noted that while the 90-day extension offers short-term relief, longer-term supply security will depend on broader shipping stability, trade policy clarity, and improved global logistics conditions.
