UAFL has added a call at Sohar to its Middle East Express service, a move aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and expanding cargo options for shippers across the Gulf trade corridor.

The inclusion of Sohar is expected to improve access to one of the region’s growing industrial and logistics hubs, providing customers with additional routing flexibility and more efficient links to import-export markets.

Located on Oman’s northern coast, Sohar has developed into a strategic maritime gateway with strong port infrastructure, industrial zones, and road connections to neighbouring Gulf economies. It is increasingly used for manufacturing, petrochemicals, metals, and containerized cargo flows.

Industry observers said the added port call could benefit businesses moving consumer goods, machinery, chemicals, project cargo, and industrial inputs by offering broader network coverage and potentially shorter inland transit routes.

UAFL’s service enhancement comes as carriers continue adjusting regional schedules to capture emerging cargo demand and improve resilience amid evolving geopolitical and supply chain conditions.

Analysts noted that expanding services through Sohar reinforces the port’s rising importance in Middle East logistics while giving shippers more options within a competitive regional market.
