Vanderlande, a global leader in logistics process automation, has inaugurated its India Innovation Centre (IIC) in Pune, marking a significant milestone in the company’s India operations and global technology strategy.

Designed as a collaboration-led facility, the new centre enables engineers to co-create, test and develop end-to-end automation solutions for customers across the warehousing, airports and parcel sectors. The IIC will drive innovation in advanced domains such as robotic automation, autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, and digital–physical integration, supporting Vanderlande’s worldwide customer base.

The launch further reinforces Vanderlande India’s role as a Global Capability Centre (GCC), positioning it as the company’s second-largest technology hub globally, after the Netherlands.

Spread across two acres, the Pune-based Innovation Centre integrates research and development, global collaboration, training, and system testing within a single environment. It allows teams to work across the full engineering lifecycle—from development and testing to end-to-end system ownership—while providing hands-on exposure to real-world automation applications and advanced technologies.

Over the years, Vanderlande India has evolved from a small support office into a 1,300-plus employee GCC, encompassing R&D, software development, core engineering disciplines and shared services. The new Innovation Centre represents the next phase of this journey, signalling a strategic shift from execution to innovation under the company’s “Everyday Better” philosophy.

Astrid van Druten, Chief Financial Officer, Vanderlande, said the centre underscores the company’s confidence in India’s growing role in its technology roadmap. “As automation becomes essential for our customers, innovation centres like these play a pivotal role in delivering smarter and more efficient solutions,” she noted.

Manish Patil, Managing Director, Vanderlande India, said the new facility reflects continued investment and trust in India’s capabilities, strengthening Vanderlande’s global innovation ecosystem.
