V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VoCPA) is advancing a structured programme of process-led reforms aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, predictability, and coordinated port operations, recognising these as key drivers of sustained port competitiveness and Ease of Doing Business.

As part of this reform initiative, VoCPA convened a Port Process Efficiency Workshop at Tuticorin in collaboration with Knowledge Partner KPMG. The workshop brought together key stakeholders from across the port ecosystem to identify process bottlenecks and prioritise areas for operational optimisation.

The programme was inaugurated by Shri Vijay Kumar, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW), who emphasised the critical role of efficient port processes, stakeholder integration, and data-driven operations in enabling ports to support global trade, sustainability, and long-term growth in line with India’s maritime vision.

During the workshop, VoCPA released a Knowledge Paper titled “Unlocking Cargo Growth Potential at V.O. Chidambaranar Port”, highlighting key operational themes and process improvement areas to support future cargo growth and enhanced service delivery.

In his address, the Chairperson, Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, noted that recent improvements in cargo performance have been driven by focused operational reforms, better asset utilisation, and capacity enhancement initiatives. He underlined that sustaining this momentum would require continuous process refinement and deeper integration among stakeholders to meet evolving trade demands.

The Deputy Chairperson, Shri Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS, highlighted the importance of collaborative engagement with the trade ecosystem in advancing the Port’s operational efficiency agenda and strengthening institutional outreach.

VoCPA also acknowledged stakeholder support for its initiatives and its participation in India Maritime Week 2025, held in New Delhi. At the national forum, the Port showcased its initiatives in green port development, coastal shipping facilitation, digital transformation, and process-led improvements aligned with national maritime development priorities.

Stakeholder engagement was recognised as a key enabler in advancing VoCPA’s reform agenda and operational outcomes, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in achieving national maritime development objectives.

The engagements concluded with a formal vote of thanks, with VoCPA reaffirming its commitment to process-led reforms, stakeholder integration, and enhanced service delivery to support trade facilitation and India’s maritime growth.
