India and Saudi Arabia have agreed to strengthen their maritime partnership by establishing a Joint Working Group (JWG) on maritime cooperation in shipping and logistics, according to an official statement issued on Wednesday.

The decision was formalized during a high-level virtual meeting between Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal and Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Transport and Logistics Services Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser.

The newly formed JWG is expected to serve as a platform to enhance collaboration in maritime trade, logistics, port infrastructure, and allied sectors, opening new avenues for bilateral growth. Officials said the move marks a significant step in deepening the strategic ties between the two nations, which are already strong partners in energy and trade.
