The Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC) project reached a major milestone today with the signing of the State Support Agreement (SSA) and Shareholder Agreement (SHA) between the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT), Government of Haryana, and Haryana Airports Development Corporation (HADC).

Under this partnership, the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC) will assist Haryana in developing the Integrated Manufacturing Cluster (IMC) at Hisar—one of the 20 industrial corridor projects currently being implemented in collaboration with state governments across India.

Spread across 2,988 acres, IMC Hisar is strategically located near the newly inaugurated Maharaja Agrasen International Airport and between the Eastern and Western Dedicated Freight Corridors (EDFC & WDFC). With excellent connectivity via NH-52, NH-09, rail links, and logistics hubs, the cluster promises to be a game-changer for North India’s industrial landscape.

The project has an investment potential of ₹32,417 crore, with a development cost of ₹4,680 crore, and is projected to generate 1.25 lakh jobs. It is designed to boost manufacturing competitiveness, attract both domestic and global investments, and create a business-friendly ecosystem in Haryana.

“This collaboration sets the foundation for futuristic industrial clusters that will serve as strategic hubs under AKIC, contributing to India’s vision of becoming a leading global manufacturing powerhouse,” said Shri Rajat Kumar Saini, CEO & MD, NICDC, who signed the agreements alongside Smt. Amneet P. Kumar, Commissioner & Secretary, Civil Aviation Department, Haryana, and Shri Narhari Singh Banger, MD, HADC.

The initiative underscores the Government of India’s commitment to strengthening Haryana’s position as a premier industrial destination while advancing the ‘Make in India’ and self-reliance agenda. Once operational, IMC Hisar is expected to emerge as a major driver of economic growth, employment, and global competitiveness for the state and the country.
