Global feeder operator Unifeeder has announced the resumption of its service between Egypt and Syria from September, a move set to reestablish crucial cargo flows across the Eastern Mediterranean.

The company said the relaunch marks a significant milestone in enhancing regional trade by offering companies new opportunities to expand their reach and benefit from more efficient supply chain links. By reconnecting Syria to global trade routes, Unifeeder reaffirmed its commitment to reliable connectivity, customer-focused solutions, and regional growth.

The development follows Unifeeder’s July launch of a new India–Mediterranean service, connecting major Indian ports including Nhava Sheva and Mundra with key Mediterranean hubs such as East Port Said, Alexandria, and several Turkish gateways. The new service accommodates both dry and reefer cargo, boosting access between the Indian subcontinent and Mediterranean markets.

Unifeeder has been on an aggressive expansion drive in the Mediterranean, tripling its market share in 2024 to 4.3 percent, according to Alphaliner. The company also recorded the highest growth in capacity among all operators in the region, ranking among the top six carriers by deployed tonnage. Its Mediterranean fleet now consists of 20 vessels with a combined capacity of 24,000 TEUs, comparable to COSCO’s regional operations. Over the past year, Unifeeder has launched seven new services, adding 10,600 TEUs of capacity and raising the average size of its vessels to 1,186 TEUs.

The resumption of the Egypt–Syria service underscores Unifeeder’s strategy of building stronger intra-Mediterranean trade networks, offering shippers more reliable schedules, reduced transit times, and expanded connectivity amid evolving regional dynamics.
