VOC Port, the prominent gateway port in southern India, has continued its upward trajectory by posting robust growth across cargo, container traffic, and operational efficiency indicators during October 2025 and the financial year to date.

In October 2025 alone, the Port handled 3.94 million tonnes of cargo and 75,110 TEUs, marking an impressive 10.94% rise in cargo throughput and a 20.83% surge in container volumes compared to the same month last year.

For the financial year April to October 2025, VOC Port recorded 25.23 million tonnes of cargo and 5,03,204 TEUs, reflecting a 2.71% increase in cargo traffic and an 8.44% rise in container handling over the corresponding period of FY 2024–25.

The Port’s performance was further strengthened by a steady rise in vessel calls, with 1,064 ships handled up to October 2025, up from 1,004 vessels during the same period last year.

Alongside growth in cargo movement, VOC Port also delivered notable improvements in operational metrics. The Average Turnaround Time (TRT) for container vessels improved from 20.16 hours to 19.20 hours, positioning VOC Port among the top performers across India’s major ports.

A key contributor to this operational efficiency has been the Direct Port Entry (DPE) facility, which became operational in April 2025. The facility has handled 17,506 TEUs of export containers up to October 2025, accounting for 8.52% of the total laden export volume of 2,05,484 TEUs.

VOC Port also registered significant growth across major commodities handled during the period. Petroleum products grew by 11.16%, edible oil by 8.57%, fertilizer by 34.18%, fertilizer raw materials by 8.32%, rock phosphate by 9.85%, salt by a remarkable 53%, and construction materials by an exceptional 177.22%. These figures highlight the Port’s diversified cargo portfolio and expanding trade volumes.

Commenting on the performance, Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson, said the sustained growth across all segments underscores the Port’s efficiency, resilience, and customer-focused strategies. He reiterated the Port’s commitment to further accelerating development through infrastructure augmentation, digital transformation, and green initiatives, strengthening its role as a vital engine of maritime trade and regional economic growth.
