V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOCPA), Tuticorin, marked another significant milestone in its journey as a key hub for renewable energy logistics with the maiden call of the newly built vessel M.V. PAC LIBRA on 19 January 2026.
On its first voyage to Tuticorin, the vessel handled 39 windmill blades weighing a total of 700 metric tonnes, underscoring the port’s growing expertise in managing complex projects and renewable energy cargo. The shipment was exported by LM Wind Power Blades (India) Pvt. Ltd. and consigned to GE Renewable North America (USA), reinforcing India’s role in supporting global clean energy supply chains.
The successful handling of this specialized cargo highlights VOCPA’s operational efficiency, infrastructure readiness, and capability to accommodate modern vessels engaged in renewable energy logistics. Over the years, the port has steadily enhanced its facilities and processes to support oversized and heavy-lift cargo, positioning itself as a preferred gateway for green energy exports.
This maiden call of M.V. PAC LIBRA further cements V.O. Chidambaranar Port’s strategic importance in facilitating sustainable trade and contributing to the global transition towards renewable energy.
