China has firmly rejected allegations by the United States that it detained vessels sailing under the Panama flag, calling the claims “unfounded” and “fabricated.” The response comes amid rising geopolitical tensions and heightened scrutiny over maritime activities in key global shipping lanes.

Chinese authorities stated that no such detentions had taken place and emphasized that the country remains committed to upholding international maritime laws and ensuring the free flow of global trade. Officials added that China continues to maintain normal port and shipping operations without discrimination against vessels based on flag or origin.

The US allegations had raised concerns among shipping stakeholders, particularly regarding potential disruptions to trade routes and vessel safety. However, industry sources indicated that there has been no widespread evidence of Panama-flagged ships being held or restricted in Chinese ports.

Panama, one of the world’s largest ship registries, plays a critical role in global maritime commerce, with a vast number of international vessels operating under its flag. Any perceived interference involving Panama-flagged ships could have broader implications for global supply chains.

Analysts suggest the episode reflects ongoing friction between the two global powers, with maritime operations increasingly becoming a focal point of strategic and political narratives. Despite the dispute, shipping activity across major routes continues largely unaffected, providing some reassurance to global trade markets.
