The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has expanded its cargo service offerings across Latin America, strengthening connectivity and operational capabilities in key markets including Brazil, Mexico and Paraguay. The move is aimed at enhancing efficiency across the air cargo supply chain and supporting the region’s growing role in global trade.

The expansion introduces additional cargo solutions and digital services designed to streamline freight operations, improve shipment visibility and facilitate smoother coordination among airlines, freight forwarders, ground handlers and customs authorities. By broadening its cargo network, IATA seeks to support increasing demand for air freight services across Latin America.

Brazil and Mexico, the region’s two largest economies, continue to serve as major hubs for international trade, handling significant volumes of industrial goods, pharmaceuticals, perishables and e-commerce shipments. Paraguay, meanwhile, is emerging as an important logistics market, with growing trade flows and increased integration into regional supply chains.

Industry stakeholders expect the enhanced connectivity to improve cargo movement between Latin America and major markets in North America, Europe and Asia. Greater operational efficiency and standardized processes are also anticipated to reduce transit times and strengthen supply chain reliability for exporters and importers.

IATA has been actively promoting digitalization within the air cargo sector through initiatives focused on electronic documentation, data sharing and automated processes. The expanded services are aligned with these efforts, helping industry participants accelerate the adoption of modern cargo management practices while improving transparency and compliance.

The development comes as air cargo volumes continue to benefit from the growth of cross-border e-commerce, time-sensitive shipments and high-value goods requiring rapid transportation. Enhanced connectivity is expected to create new opportunities for businesses across the region while supporting economic growth and trade competitiveness.

For airlines and logistics providers operating in Latin America, the expanded cargo framework offers greater access to international markets and improved operational coordination. Industry observers believe the initiative will contribute to a more resilient and efficient air freight ecosystem, positioning the region to capture a larger share of global cargo flows in the years ahead.
