The proposed Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) at Niphad moved a step closer to implementation following a high-level meeting between Nashik District Collector Ayush Prasad and JNPT Vice Chairman Ravish Kumar Singh at the Collector’s office to discuss the project’s development and its role in strengthening the district’s logistics and export ecosystem.

During the meeting, officials clarified that the proposed MMLP will be developed as both an EXIM (Export-Import) cargo hub and an integrated domestic logistics park, providing comprehensive logistics, warehousing and distribution facilities for domestic as well as international trade.

The proposed Niphad Dry Port will be supported by strong multi-modal connectivity through the Nashik–Chennai Highway, Nashik Ring Road, Samruddhi Mahamarg, Ozar Airport and the railway network, creating a strategic logistics gateway for the region and supporting industrial and trade growth.

To strengthen agricultural exports, District Collector Ayush Prasad proposed linking the Lasalgaon and Pimpalgaon Baswant Agricultural Produce Market Committees (APMCs) with the dry port during the initial phase, with plans to integrate other APMCs across Nashik district in subsequent stages. He also suggested connecting the Centre’s world’s largest grain storage scheme with the Niphad Dry Port to enhance storage infrastructure, improve the agricultural supply chain and provide direct benefits to farmers and traders.

JNPT Vice Chairman Ravish Kumar Singh informed the meeting that Nashik district’s Economic Development Cell has been linked with JNPT’s main transport office to simplify export procedures and facilitate trade for local industries and exporters. He also announced that JNPT will participate as a key stakeholder in the District Export Promotion Committee (DEPC) meeting scheduled for August 4, 2026.

According to the district administration, the proposed Multi-Modal Logistics Park, backed by robust transport connectivity and JNPT’s collaboration, is expected to become a major catalyst for Nashik’s economic development. The project is anticipated to boost agricultural exports, trade, industrial activity and employment, while strengthening the district’s position on India’s logistics and export landscape.
