The Centre is preparing to deploy around 1,000 advisory personnel across the country to support businesses as India moves toward implementing the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).
The initiative is aimed at helping exporters, importers, and industry stakeholders understand the opportunities, compliance requirements, and operational changes linked to the trade agreement.
Alongside the advisory network, the government is also upgrading its trade portal to provide improved digital support for businesses. The enhanced platform is expected to offer easier access to information related to tariffs, market access, documentation procedures, and other trade-related requirements.
Officials said the measures are designed to ensure smoother adoption of the agreement, particularly among small and medium-sized enterprises that may need additional guidance to benefit from expanded trade opportunities.
The India-UK CETA is expected to strengthen economic ties between the two countries by improving market access, supporting exports, and creating new opportunities across sectors including manufacturing, services, and agriculture.
Industry groups have highlighted the importance of awareness and implementation support to help businesses make effective use of the agreement once it comes into force.
The government’s latest steps reflect efforts to build a stronger trade facilitation ecosystem and ensure companies across India are prepared to participate in the expanded India-UK trade framework.
