The milestone holds special significance as it was achieved during the Port’s 50th Financial Year, marking a major accomplishment in its Golden Jubilee journey and setting the stage for an ambitious cargo target of 53 MMT in FY 2026-27.

The event was graced by Shri Sushil Kumar Singh, IRSME, Chairperson of New Mangalore Port Authority, Deendayal Port Authority and Indian Ports Association, as the Chief Guest. The programme was presided over by Smt. S. Shanthi, Deputy Chairperson, NMPA, while Shri Padmanabhachar K., IoFS, Chief Vigilance Officer, NMPA, attended as the Guest of Honour. Senior officials of NMPA, representatives from Customs, terminal operators, shipping lines, exporters, importers, trade bodies, stevedores, Customs House Agents (CHAs), and other maritime stakeholders were also present.

Welcoming the gathering, Shri Rajendra Kumar, Traffic Manager, NMPA, thanked the Port community for its unwavering support and partnership, stating that the record-breaking cargo performance reflected the collective efforts of all stakeholders. He reaffirmed NMPA’s commitment to providing world-class infrastructure, efficient services, and stakeholder-centric initiatives to sustain future growth.

In his keynote address, Shri Sushil Kumar Singh congratulated the entire Port community on the historic achievement of crossing 50 MMT of cargo, describing it as the highest cargo throughput in NMPA’s history and a fitting milestone during its Golden Jubilee year. He credited exporters, importers, shipping lines, terminal operators, Customs authorities, logistics providers, transporters, stevedores, CHAs, and other stakeholders as the driving force behind the Port’s success.

Expressing confidence in achieving the Port’s next target of 53 MMT during FY 2026-27, the Chairperson highlighted the Government of India’s Maritime India Vision 2030 and Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, which focus on modernization, mechanization, digitalisation, capacity enhancement, and ease of doing business.

He noted that NMPA is actively strengthening its infrastructure by improving draft availability, enhancing liner shipping connectivity, and developing new cargo streams to unlock the Port’s full potential. Stressing the importance of stakeholder engagement, he reaffirmed NMPA’s commitment to customer-centric services and its vision of emerging as one of India’s leading ports and a globally competitive maritime hub.

A major highlight of the evening was the presentation of awards to outstanding performers across multiple categories, recognising excellence among importers, exporters, terminal operators, shipping agents, stevedores, Customs House Agents, logistics partners, and other port users for their exceptional contribution to the Port’s record cargo performance during FY 2025-26.

The names of the awardees were announced by Shri Chandrashekar Palekar, Deputy Traffic Manager, while the awards were presented by the Chairperson in the presence of the Deputy Chairperson, Chief Vigilance Officer, and Traffic Manager.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri Ravi Kiran, Deputy Traffic Manager, NMPA, bringing together the Port fraternity in celebration of a landmark year that underscored the strength of collaboration between NMPA and its stakeholders.
