Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has delivered ‘Mangrol’, the third of eight Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW SWC) being built for the Indian Navy, marking another milestone in India’s drive towards indigenous shipbuilding and maritime defence capabilities.

The delivery protocol for the vessel was signed by Dr. Harikrishnan S., Director (Operations), CSL, and Commander U. Sharan Kumar, Commanding Officer (Designate), ‘Mangrol’, in the presence of Jose V.J., CMD, CSL, Commodore Piyush Badoni, CRO, HQWNC, and senior officials from the Indian Navy and CSL.

Designed and built indigenously by Cochin Shipyard, ‘Mangrol’ is equipped with advanced systems to detect, track and counter underwater threats in shallow coastal waters. The vessel is intended to strengthen the Indian Navy’s anti-submarine warfare capabilities, particularly in littoral and coastal environments.

The delivery underscores CSL’s growing role in supporting India’s maritime security requirements through domestic shipbuilding and advanced naval vessel construction.

The ASW SWC programme is part of India’s broader effort to enhance indigenous defence production and reduce dependence on overseas sources for critical maritime platforms, in line with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

The delivery of ‘Mangrol’ further strengthens the Indian Navy’s fleet of specialised shallow-water warfare platforms and highlights the expanding capabilities of India’s domestic shipbuilding industry.
