These projects are estimated to cost around Rs 325 billion and will be fully funded by the Central Government. The proposals for Multi-tracking are aimed at easing operations and reducing congestion. They will contribute to muchneeded infrastructural development on the busiest sections across the Indian Railways.

The projects will cover 35 Districts in 9 States, namely Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha, Jharkhand, and West Bengal. They are set to increase the current network of Indian Railways by 2339 Kms. Moreover, these projects are expected to generate employment for approximately Rs 70.06 million man-days for the residents of these states.
