Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, and Textiles, Piyush Goyal, made a significant announcement on Monday at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi, where he unveiled three crucial documents aimed at bolstering India’s infrastructure and economic growth.

The unveiled documents include “Compendium of PM GatiShakti: Volume II,” “Compendium of Roles and Responsibilities on PM GatiShakti National Master Plan,” and “Handbook for District Collectors: PM GatiShakti National Master Plan for Area Development Approach.”

During the unveiling event, Minister Goyal applauded the stakeholders for their substantial achievements in implementing the PM GatiShakti initiative over the past two years. He underscored the advantages of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (NMP), which relies on data-driven mechanisms to address challenges, streamline project planning and implementation, and expedite NOC approvals and land acquisitions.

Union Minister of State for Commerce & Industry, Som Parkash, highlighted the integration of infrastructure, economic, and social Ministries/Departments. He emphasized that these released documents will harmonize India’s infrastructure planning and enhance logistics efficiency.

Rajesh Kumar Singh, Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), commended the improvements in district-level area planning, encompassing both hard and soft infrastructure. He asserted that the documents would encourage integrated planning, eliminate ad-hoc issues, and promote synergy among stakeholders at various levels.

Sumita Dawra, Special Secretary (Logistics), DPIIT, stressed the concerted efforts made by the Logistics Division, including initiatives such as data ownership, quality management, and the successful release of the “Logistics Cost in India: Assessment and Long-term Framework” report.

The “Compendium of PM GatiShakti: Volume II” features 11 successful use cases of PM GatiShakti NMP adoption, showcasing benefits like expedited decision-making and integrated planning. The “Handbook for District Collectors” provides guidance for district-level officers to achieve comprehensive area-based socio-economic development, in alignment with PM GatiShakti principles. The “Compendium of Roles and Responsibilities” offers an overview of stakeholder responsibilities, promoting clarity and efficient data management practices.

These released documents are designed to enhance ease of doing business, improve quality of life, and facilitate the seamless adoption of PM GatiShakti at the district level, thereby contributing significantly to India’s infrastructural development and economic growth.
