Road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari, today said India needs to lower the
logistics cost to boost exports. Gadkari said at a FICCI event that good road infra, coupled with alternative fuel, will lower India’s logistics cost to 9%.

“If we have to push exports, then the logistics cost has to be lowered. Our logistics cost is up to 14% to 16%. Logistics cost in China is 8% to 10%, and 12% in the US and European countries. If we build good road infrastructure and opt for alternative fuels and biofuels, logistics costs will come down to single digits. If we manage to reduce the logistics cost to
9%, our exports will be 1.5 times more,” Gadkari said.
